MECHS Senior Signs Letter of Intent
Manor, TX (May 17, 2021) - Previously, Emily Jaimes, Senior at Manor Early College High School was offered a full-ride scholarship to Houston Baptist University to play Division I soccer for the Huskies. Jaimes accepted and signed her official Letter of Intent to play soccer at HBU on Friday, April 30th, 2021. She will start her studies in the fall of 2021. You can read the full story below.

Emily Jaimes, Senior at Manor Early College High School, received a phone call on January 7th that would change her life forever. The voice on the other end of the line, a Houston Baptist University Representative, called to offer her a full-ride scholarship to the 4-year college where she will play Division I soccer for the Huskies. The $188,000–$47,000 per year scholarship is enough to cover Emily’s cost of tuition at the Houston Baptist University.
“I believe that education will always be my number one priority,” said Jaimes. “There’s no one in the world who can take it away and there are so many opportunities through education! Being an athlete is a huge blessing. At every stage of my soccer career, I’ve learned new things that have changed my life by developing me into a strong and hardworking young lady.” Her hard work does not go unnoticed as she says, “I am ready to move any barrier that might come in the way of my success!”
At Manor Early College High School, Emily is a member of the National Honors Society, Varsity Girls Soccer Team, and participates in the highly competitive Forza Sports Academy. Her work through the various school-sponsored clubs has provided a number of opportunities including volunteering and participation in district sports events.
"Emily is an outstanding student-athlete who uses athletic discipline and perseverance both in soccer and her college classes,” said Dr. Alimé Sadikova Rodriguez, Manor Early College High School Principal “Her enthusiasm, intellect, and cheerful personality make her an outstanding scholar and athlete."
If Emily commits to HBU, she plans to study Kinesiology at the university in the fall of 2021.
