MECHS Scholar Featured On NPR Podcast

Manor, TX (April 15, 2021) - Manor Early College High School ninth grade scholar, Johnique “J.T.” Thomas was featured during a recent NPR podcast interview titled “As the End of the Pandemic Becomes Real, Here’s What People are Dreaming About.” 

The podcast featured seven people from across the country with ages ranging from 15 to 65 years old – J.T. being the youngest.

Guest speakers talked about how they were looking forward to the simple things such as hugging family members, going to the movies, and attending carnivals. 

“I had to make the transition from middle school to high school completely virtually, and I haven't even stepped foot in high school yet,” said J.T. Now as a freshman in high school he looks forward to attending regular high school activities rather than participating from behind a screen.

Manor, TX (15 de abril de 2021) - Estudiante de noveno grado de Manor Early College High School, Johnique "J.T." Thomas apareció durante una reciente entrevista de podcast de NPR titulada "A medida que el fin de la pandemia se vuelve real, esto es lo que la gente está soñando".

El podcast contó con siete personas de todo el país con edades entre los 15 y los 65 años: J.T. siendo el más joven.

Los oradores invitados hablaron sobre cómo esperaban las cosas simples como abrazar a los miembros de la familia, ir al cine, y asistir a los festivales.

“Tuve que hacer la transición de middle school a la secundaria de manera completamente virtual, y ni siquiera he puesto un pie en la escuela todavía”, dijo J.T. Ahora, como estudiante de primer año en secundaria, espera asistir a las actividades regulares de la escuela en lugar de participar detrás de una pantalla.
