Manor ISD Trustee Janie Guerrero named Texas Latino School Boards Association Advisor
Manor ISD Board of Trustees Vice President Janie Guerrero has been named an advisor for the Texas Latino School Boards Association (TLSBA).
Guerrero has served on the Manor ISD Board of Trustees since 2016 and has been involved in the district’s Parent Engagement Committee and is a member of the School Safety Committee. She also represents the Education Service Center (ESC) Region 13 on the TLSBA Board of Advisors. Trustee Guerrero has also served on the Board of National Educational Service Centers of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). Her experience also includes serving as a former Travis County deputy constable and Austin ISD parent support specialist.
According to the organization, TLSBA provides research and resources to school board members, superintendents, and educators who are committed to closing opportunity and achievement gaps for the 2.9 million Latino students in our Texas public schools. Founded in 2021 to address the gaps that were exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the TLSBA addresses the systemic challenges that adversely affect students of color.
Together, the organization’s advisors serves over 420,000 Latinx students throughout their respective school districts across Texas.
