Manor ISD Welcomes New Chief Academic Support Officer: Dr. Christopher Harvey

Dr. Christopher Harvey grew up next door in East and Northeast Austin communities. He attended public school at Blanton and Harris Elementary, Kealing Jr High, and LBJ High School. He has a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Texas State University, a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Concordia University Texas, and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor.
Dr. Harvey’s quantitative dissertation explored the relationship of Algebra I and graduation rates for African-American and Hispanic students Texas urban high school students. The data sample included students from traditional urban high schools in 3 major districts in Texas. In addition, Harvey has studied education in several states in the US, particularly in poverty stricken areas, as well as traveling to study education in Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, and France, where he presented and served on panel discussions.
In 2013, Dr. Harvey received an all expense paid trip to the INACOL National Conference in Orlando, Florida where he was 1 of 6 people in the United States presented a Transformation Award by K12. In 2020, the nationally recognized African American Youth Harvest Foundation awarded him the Community Leadership Award for unparalleled contributions, commitment, and excellence in Central Texas. In 2023, the Austin Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers awarded him as elected official of the year.
He has presentation experience at local, state, regional, and national conferences. His last few major speaking opportunities were at TASA MidWinter (2019), National Educators for Restorative Practices (2018) Central Texas African-American Family Support Conference (2019), National Council on Educating Black Children 2013 (Chicago), Dream Deferred by College Board (2013), and a 2013 poster presentation acceptance by College Board (New York).
Dr. Harvey has also worked part-time as a per course instructor for Texas State University (Organization, Workforce, and Leadership Studies Department) and Concordia University Texas (College of Education) each semester. He also owns and operates a consultancy firm.
Since 2009, Harvey has worked in Manor ISD building exceptional experience in: campus/district administration, teacher/administrator leadership development, program design/transformation/
Prior to becoming the Chief Academic Support Officer, Dr. Harvey was the Executive Director of Federal, State, and Innovative Programs. He’s also served as a Director of Academic Programs, Principal on Special Assignments, a District Coordinator for Academic Interventions & College & Career Readiness, a Principal, and an Assistant Principal. Dr. Harvey maintains the following certification: Principal (since 2008), Superintendent (since 2014), and Certified Texas School Business Official (since 2020).
Dr. Harvey lives in Manor, is married to his beautiful wife Shaneen, and has 3 beautiful daughters: Chrishana - 21, Alaiya - 14, and Chyra - 12. He is a lifetime member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc and is actively engaged at Turning Point Bible Fellowship Church in Austin Texas as a Deacon, musician, teacher, and media director.
