Manor FFA Excels In the 2022 Travis County Youth Show
Exceeding Expectations!
Manor ISD would like to formally congratulate the Manor Future Farmers of America (FFA) members who have been hard at work with their Travis County Youth Fair and Livestock Projects. Over the past six months, members of the Manor FFA have exceeded their expectations and earnings.
$12,050 in Earnings
This year, thirteen FFA and Junior FFA members participated in the Travis County Youth Show. FFA members entered a total of 33 projects into the competition and 14 projects placed high enough to make the sale list for auction. The grand total of earnings from Manor ISD’s Future Farmers of America reached $12,050!
What is FFA?
The FFA is a national student-led organization with over 735,000 members in grades seven through twelve who belong to one of 8,817 local FFA Chapters throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Scholars in grades three through six are eligible to become Junior FFA members and are able to participate alongside chapter members at the local level. The FFA operates on the local, state, and national levels.
Scholars have the opportunity to learn various skills through extra-curricular projects such as livestock, baked goods, or preserved foods and then exhibit them at local, state, and national shows. Members can also participate in youth fairs, leadership development, and many other hands-on activities to earn funding for future projects or scholarships.
You Can Boost Our Scholar's Earnings!
The scholars who are eligible for the sale have the opportunity to solicit “add ons” to their earnings from the auction. This is money that family, friends, teachers, and the community contribute to their project earnings. Donors can “add on” or donate to projects by going to the link (http://traviscountyyouthshow.org/page.aspx?ID=39). Donors are asked to complete a form (name, address, phone number, and email) and then add a minimum donation of $25.00. All payments are made by credit card. Scholars that made it to the sale were provided a lot number in the auction and this number is needed to ensure the money goes to the correct exhibitor. Donors will need to provide the scholar’s name and lot number in the information box. The deadline to make a donation to exhibitors is Friday, February 4th by 5 p.m.
If you have any questions, please reach out to any of Manor ISD’s Ag Science Teachers or call the Ag Building at (512) 278-4827.
Congratulations to all of our scholars who participated in the FFA show this month!
