Local Hereos Support Manor ISD Community During Winter Weather Storm

Manor, TX (March 3, 2021) - With the unprecedented winter weather across our state recently, the Manor community is still working together to recover. Friends, neighbors and the Manor ISD family quickly stepped up to be our local heroes.

The teachers at Manor Early College High School supported their campus scholars and families by braving the cold and crowded grocery stores to gather supplies and deliver them to their scholars over the greater Manor area.

Decker Elementary teachers personally called scholars’ home phone numbers to check in on them and their families. Teachers were able to identify which scholars were in need and notified the campus Scholar Support Team, which then provided families with resources.

MISD Communities in Schools and Decker Elementary teachers collaborated to gather donations and provide assistance to families on their campus and through home visits. This team was able to provide 25 boxes of nonperishable items, over 45 cases of water, and 850 caregiver meals.

Not only has our community stepped up to provide for those in need, but former University of Texas football player and current Seattle Seahawk safety, Quandre Diggs donated 300 Chicken Fried Rice Bowl meals from J’s Hibachi Food Truck. Manor ISD Police Department and Administration loaded cases of water bottles into the trunk of cars while the community waited in line to be served the delicious Japanese Hibachi bowls.

The City of Manor, the Manor Police Department, the Manor Texas COVID-19 Disaster Relief in conjunction with Manor ISD teamed up with the Central Texas Food Bank to provide boxes of non-perishable food items and water to the people of Manor and the surrounding areas at Manor Senior High School and Blake Manor Elementary School.

Thank you to all Manor ISD heroes for your support during the difficult winter weather!
