Manor ISD Superintendent Thanksgiving Message to Families
Dear Manor ISD Family;
On behalf of the Manor ISD Board of Trustees and our District Staff, I wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving and hope that you are able to share this holiday season with your family and friends in your own unique way.
This year Thanksgiving might look a bit different but we embrace the change and give thanks to all those who have helped ensure the safety of our scholars, staff, and community.
I especially give thanks to those who have championed the success of our scholars; our teachers and administrators who have opened the doors of knowledge and educational opportunity; our operations departments who have taken care of all our technological, facilities, and maintenance needs; and the bus drivers, food service workers, police officers, and others who have come together to keep our MISD family safe.
Manor ISD will be closed from November 23 through November 27. As you give thanks this time of year, consider how you can make adjustments to your holiday plans to keep our friends, families, and community both healthy and safe.
Yesterday, the Austin Public Health Department announced that Austin-Travis County is moving out of Stage 3 and into Stage 4 in the COVID-19 Risk Bases Guidelines. Although our risk-based guidelines have changed, the TEA and Governor Abbott are requiring school districts to remain open and offer on-campus instruction.
We know the COVID-19 pandemic has posed us with many unforeseen challenges and that this is not the kind of school year we were all hoping for, but please know that MISD is making decisions with the best interest of our scholars, staff, and community in mind.
This holiday season, we remind you to safeguard your family by following the CDC’s holiday celebration recommendations for gatherings including:
- Practice frequent hand washing and sanitizing
- Wearing a mask or face covering and maintaining 6 feet of distance when around someone outside of your household
- Consider small outdoor holiday celebrations
- Refraining from group gatherings
Our district leadership will continue to monitor conditions daily and constantly search for ways to improve our educational and safety practices. Let’s continue to work together to make sure none of our families and none of our scholars get left behind.
We are grateful for our entire MISD family who has given back so much to strengthen and support our district. Stay safe, be well, and remember, Scholars First!
With warmest wishes of health and peace this Thanksgiving,
Dr. André D. Spencer

Estimada familia de Manor ISD;
