Trustee Dr. Mary Thomas Receives Global Leadership Award

Manor ISD Board of Trustee Dr. Mary Thomas has been named a recipient of the 2024 Business Leaders in Education Award by the Forttuna Organization, an international entity that recognizes exceptional leaders from around the world.

The award honors individuals who demonstrate a lasting commitment to excellence, innovation, and service in their fields. Dr. Thomas was selected for her nearly five decades of work in public education and her extensive involvement in organizations at the local, state, national, and international levels.

With 48 years of experience, Dr. Thomas has served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and central office administrator. She has contributed her leadership and expertise to Commerce ISD, Austin ISD, Manor ISD, Starr Consulting Firm, and Greater Calvary Bible Church International. In addition to her career in education, Dr. Thomas has served as a Manor ISD Board of Trustee since 2022.

“She’s a true trailblazer,” said Dr. Robert Sormani, Superintendent of Manor ISD. “Dr. Thomas has dedicated her life to helping others learn, grow, and lead. This recognition is not only well-deserved, it’s a reflection of the thousands of lives she’s touched through education.”
