Manor ISD Community,

The world our students are growing up in is changing rapidly. The careers and opportunities they will step into tomorrow may look very different from what exists today. Because of that, it is more important than ever that we are thoughtful and intentional in creating an inspiring vision for the future of our schools, the experiences we provide for our students, and how we prepare them for a world that will look very different.

A strategic plan helps us do exactly that. Simply put, a strategic plan is a roadmap for where a school district wants to go and how it will get there. Districts use strategic plans to identify priorities, set clear goals, and guide the decisions that impact students, staff, and schools. Just as important, a strong strategic plan creates accountability by establishing measurable goals and allowing us to track our progress over time.

This week, we took an important step toward shaping the future of our district as we began developing our 2027–2032 Strategic Plan, Mission, and Vision.

Seventy-four students, staff, and community members came together for our Strategic Planning Retreat to begin this important work during an immersive two-day session. During the retreat, participants spent time reflecting on where Manor ISD has been, where we are today, and where we want to go for our students in the years ahead.

We were especially proud to begin this work by hearing directly from our students. A student panel helped kick off the retreat and guide the conversation. Their voices helped ground our discussions and reminded us why this work matters. Every decision we make as a district should ultimately lead to better opportunities and outcomes for the students we serve.

Over the next several months, this work will continue as teams collaborate to develop strategies and action steps that support the district’s mission, vision, and values.

  • From March 30 through April 2, Action Teams will be formed to begin outlining strategies.
  • From April 6 through April 12, those teams will receive training on writing goals and monitoring progress.
  • Between April 13 and May 14, teams will meet several times to develop detailed action plans that support district priorities.
  • On May 21, teams will share updates and recommendations from their work.
  • Finally, on June 15, the proposed Strategic Plan will be presented to the Manor ISD Board of Trustees for consideration.

By the end of this process, Manor ISD will have a strategic plan that reflects the voices of our students, staff, families, and community while also creating clear goals and accountability for the future.

We encourage our community to follow along as this work continues. You can view updates on the process and ultimately the full strategic plan by visiting the Manor ISD Strategic Plan website.

I am excited for our community to see the work that will come from this process and the direction it will help set for Manor ISD in the years ahead. When we work together and stay focused on what is best for students, we can build an even stronger future for our district and the community we proudly serve.

Respectfully,

Dr. Robert Sormani

Superintendent
