Salvador Vega Named Principal of Decker Elementary School

Manor ISD has named Salvador Vega as the new principal of Decker Elementary School.

Vega brings more than 40 years of experience in education and a deep connection to the Manor community. He previously served as principal of Decker Elementary and Oak Meadows Elementary from 2015 to 2021, helping lead strong academic growth and earning STAAR Student Progress Distinctions during his tenure.

With a career that spans roles as a teacher, principal, bilingual education leader, and superintendent, Vega has dedicated his work to helping students succeed and creating school environments where every child can thrive. Most recently, he has served as a dual language teacher, continuing his commitment to student learning and growth.

Returning to Decker Elementary is a meaningful homecoming for Vega, who is excited to reconnect with students, staff, and families while helping build on the campus’s strong foundation.

“I am blessed and honored to have been selected to serve the Decker Elementary community. One of my core beliefs is that all students can learn and show growth at their appropriate pace. I look forward to the challenge of together developing and creating great students and great people for the future.”

Throughout his career, Vega has led schools that earned state and national recognition and has been honored as both a Teacher of the Year nominee and Principal of the Year nominee. His passion for bilingual education, student growth, and strong school communities has remained at the center of his work.

Vega holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Graceland College, a Master of Education from Stephen F. Austin State University, and superintendent certification through Region 4.
