Morgan Hurley, an 8th grade social studies teacher at Manor New Tech Middle School, has been named the 2025 Manor ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year.
She received the honor during the district’s annual Evening of Excellence, presented by A+ Federal Credit Union, and held to recognize outstanding educators and staff across Manor ISD. Hurley was selected for her commitment to academic excellence, her ability to foster meaningful relationships with students, and her creative, trust-centered approach to teaching.
With a classroom culture rooted in trust, consistency, and joy, Hurley has distinguished herself as an educator who not only drives academic achievement but also creates a safe and engaging space for students to thrive. Her educational philosophy is simple yet powerful: meet students where they are, build trust, celebrate the wins, work hard, and have a little fun along the way.
That approach has paid off. Hurley’s students have shown significant academic growth in preparation for STAAR, with many reaching mastery levels that position the campus for state recognition.
But beyond the test scores, it’s the student connections that highlight Hurley’s impact. “My students come to my classroom for advice, a sense of peace, or even to share a laugh,” she said. “When one student started turning in every assignment from the point of view of Remy the rat from Ratatouille, I knew they weren’t just understanding the material, they were owning it and applying it in creative, meaningful ways.”
Manor New Tech Principal Leticia Jones praised Hurley for her balance of high expectations and authentic relationships.
“Morgan is an exceptional teacher who truly meets students where they are academically and emotionally,” said Jones. “She brings passion and purpose to everything she does, and our school community is better because of her. This honor is well deserved.”
Hurley will now represent Manor ISD in the Region 13 Teacher of the Year competition later this Spring.
The Evening of Excellence was made possible thanks to the generous support of presenting sponsor A+ Federal Credit Union, along with additional sponsors H-E-B, Manor Schoolhouse Foundation, and Stephen Miller State Farm
