Manor New Tech High School Student Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist

Manor New Tech High School (MNTHS) senior Jaswanth Thanikanti has been named a Semifinalist in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program, placing him among the top students in the nation recognized for exceptional academic promise.

Each year, roughly 16,000 students across the country earn Semifinalist status by achieving top scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Jaswanth’s distinction represents not only his hard work and dedication but also the academic excellence fostered at Manor New Tech High School.

“Jaswanth is the kind of student who leads by example,” said MNTHS Principal Bobby Garcia. “He is humble, focused, and deeply committed to his goals. His recognition as a National Merit Semifinalist is a reflection of his determination and the supportive learning environment we strive to create at Manor New Tech. We couldn’t be prouder of him.”

As a Semifinalist, Jaswanth will now have the opportunity to advance to the Finalist stage, where he could earn one of the prestigious National Merit Scholarships awarded in the spring.

The National Merit Scholarship Program, established in 1955, honors the nation’s top-performing students and encourages them to pursue rigorous academic and professional paths.
