Manor New Tech High School Student Leads Team to First UIL State Championship

Manor New Tech High School students are celebrating a historic achievement. The MNTHS Digital Animation Team, led by sophomore Urduja Raygon, earned 1st Place in Division 4A Filmmaking at the UIL State Championship for their film Daisy and Matilda.

The win marks the first UIL state championship in school history for Manor New Tech High School. Competing against talented student filmmakers from across Texas, the team’s film stood out for its creativity, storytelling, and technical skill.

For Raygon and the Digital Animation team, the project was the result of many hours spent writing, filming, editing, and refining their work. The UIL Filmmaking competition challenges students to create an original short film under strict guidelines and deadlines, giving them real-world experience in the creative process.

Even after bringing home the state title, Raygon and the team are already looking ahead. Their passion for filmmaking and commitment to their craft continue to drive them as they begin thinking about ideas for next year’s competition.

The team’s accomplishment was recognized during the March meeting of the Manor ISD Board of Trustees, where trustees celebrated their historic win and the pride they brought to their campus and the entire Manor ISD community.
