Manor ISD Shines Bright Leading in Theatre Education: TxETA Outstanding District of Distinction Recipient

Manor Independent School District (ISD) has earned significant statewide recognition for its outstanding commitment to theatre education, being named a Texas Educational Theatre Association (TxETA) Outstanding District of Distinction for 2025. This prestigious honor was awarded to only 36 districts across Texas, highlighting Manor ISD's consistent and robust support for theatre arts at all levels. What makes this achievement even more remarkable is its distinction as one of only three districts statewide with campuses recognized at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. This speaks volumes about the comprehensive and integrated approach Manor ISD takes to fostering theatrical talent and appreciation from an early age through high school.

What It Takes to Be Recognized

To achieve this esteemed status, schools and districts must annually submit a detailed application demonstrating their commitment to theatre through multiple avenues. Points are awarded based on a range of criteria, including:

  • Quality and quantity of theatrical performances
  • A robust play library and access to acting spaces
  • Community and administrative support for theatre programs
  • Student involvement in University Interscholastic League (UIL) contests
  • Participation in Theatrical Design competitions
  • Theatre technology

The Award of Distinction is a tiered honor, with levels ranging from "Recognized" to "Exemplary," reflecting a school's or district's excellence across these categories and their dedication to advancing the arts in education.

TxETA's mission is to support, promote, and expand educational theatre at all levels by providing educational opportunities, building a network of resources and support, and creating a forum for establishing standards, programs, and projects to celebrate the importance of theatre.
