Manor ISD Named TAEA District of Distinction for Eighth Consecutive Year

Manor ISD has earned the Texas Art Education Association's (TAEA) District of Distinction designation for the eighth consecutive year, placing the district's visual arts program among the top 1.3% in Texas.
With this year's recognition, Manor ISD joins just 15 other school districts statewide to achieve the milestone of earning the prestigious designation for eight consecutive years.
The District of Distinction award honors school districts that demonstrate exceptional leadership and a strong commitment to visual arts education. More than 1,200 Texas school districts were eligible to apply for the 2025–2026 recognition, with only 109 districts meeting the rigorous standards required to earn the honor.
Districts are evaluated using a comprehensive 14-point rubric that measures excellence in visual arts programming, including participation in exhibitions and contests, student field experiences, community engagement, service learning, collaboration across academic content areas and active involvement with the Texas Art Education Association.
"Art gives our scholars the confidence to share their voice, the courage to see the world differently and the opportunity to leave their own mark,” said Kellen Segura, Manor ISD Director of Fine Arts. “This recognition isn't just about the work happening in our classrooms today. It's about the culture we've built over the past eight years that values creativity, curiosity and expression. I'm incredibly proud of our educators for inspiring scholars to create with purpose every single day.”
The recognition reflects the continued dedication of Manor ISD's visual arts educators, whose work provides scholars with opportunities to develop their artistic talents while strengthening critical thinking, creativity and self-expression. From elementary through high school, scholars participate in meaningful learning experiences that connect classroom instruction with exhibitions, competitions and community engagement, said Segura.
