Manor ISD Food and Nutrition Director Earns National Recognition for Leadership in School Nutrition

Manor ISD is celebrating national recognition for Food and Nutrition Director Ryan Cengel, whose leadership and innovation in school nutrition are earning attention across the country.

Cengel has been selected to join the prestigious Healthy Kids Collaborative through the Culinary Institute of America, an elite network of school nutrition leaders dedicated to advancing scratch cooking, strengthening local food systems, and elevating culinary excellence in K–12 schools.

The selection highlights the transformative work happening daily in Manor ISD cafeterias, where teams are:

  • Expanding fresh, scratch-made meal options
  • Partnering with Texas farmers and local food producers
  • Engaging students through hands on food education and farm to school initiatives
  • Serving nutritious, culturally relevant meals students are excited to eat

Through this national collaboration, Manor ISD will continue to lead in innovative, student centered school dining.

Cengel also received a second prestigious honor, selection as Texas’ representative for the Future Leaders Program at the School Nutrition Association National Leadership Conference, in partnership with the Texas Association of School Nutrition. Only one school nutrition director from Texas is chosen each year for this distinction.

“I am deeply honored to be selected for these opportunities and to represent both Manor ISD and the state of Texas on a national stage,” Cengel said. “These recognitions are truly a reflection of the incredible work our Food and Nutrition Services team does every day to serve fresh, nutritious meals in creative ways that support student health and success. I am excited to collaborate with school nutrition leaders from across the country, share what we are accomplishing in Manor ISD, and continue learning new ways to strengthen the quality and impact of school meals for students everywhere.”

The conference brings together emerging leaders from across the nation for advanced training, collaboration, and strategic planning focused on the future of school nutrition programs.
