Manor ISD is hitting a high note nationally, earning the Best Communities for Music Education Award for the seventh time and being named one of just four districts in the country to receive a new Opportunity Award grant.
Presented by The NAMM Foundation, the charitable arm of the National Association of Music Merchants, the Best Communities for Music Education designation recognizes school districts across the country that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing students access to high quality music education.
For Manor ISD, this milestone reflects years of continued investment in programs that give students the opportunity to explore their creativity, build confidence, and find their voice.
“Receiving both the BCME recognition and Opportunity Award affirms our commitment to ensuring all students, especially those with limited access, experience the power of music education. We are deeply grateful for this recognition. In our community, music gives students a voice, builds confidence, fosters creativity, and creates a sense of belonging that can truly change the trajectory of their lives,” said Kellen Segura, Director of Fine Arts.
In addition to the national recognition, Manor ISD was also selected for The NAMM Foundation’s new Opportunity Award, which was introduced in 2026 to expand support for music education programs across the country. The award includes a $5,000 grant and is given to a small number of BCME recipients where additional funding can make a meaningful impact. This year, Manor ISD was one of just four districts in the nation selected.
“We’re proud of how far we’ve come, but we’re even more excited about where we’re going,” Segura added. “This support helps us continue opening doors for our students and expanding what’s possible through music.”
More than 1,000 school districts and campuses were recognized through the BCME program this year. Recipients are selected through a comprehensive application process that evaluates funding, participation, instructional time, facilities, and community support. To ensure a high level of rigor, applications are independently reviewed and verified by WolfBrown, a national research and evaluation firm specializing in the arts.
