Manor ISD Board Approves 2027–2028 Academic Calendar, Designates Potential Bad Weather Days For 2026-2027

The Manor ISD Board of Trustees has approved both the 2027–2028 academic calendar and updates to the 2026–2027 calendar.

Through a collaborative process that included a district committee and multiple community surveys, Manor ISD gathered input from staff, families, and students to shape the calendar. In total, more than 5,000 responses helped guide the final recommendation. After reviewing feedback and priorities, Option A was selected as the preferred calendar to present to the Board for approval, reflecting what the majority of the community supported.

What the approved 2027–2028 Calendar Includes

  • First day of school: August 11

  • Fall Break: October 11-15

  • Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 22-26

  • Student Winter Break: Dec. 20 - Jan. 4

  • Staff Winter Break: Dec. 20 - Dec. 31

  • Spring Break: March 13-17

  • Last day of school: May 25

The calendar includes 172 instructional days totaling 77,400 minutes, giving the district the equivalent of four banked days. This built-in time allows us to make up for any school closures due to inclement weather or other unexpected circumstances without needing to add additional days to the calendar. If closures exceed those banked minutes, Manor ISD has also identified bad weather makeup days that would be used to ensure all instructional time requirements are met.

Updates to the 2026–2027 Calendar

In addition to approving the future calendar, the Board also updated the 2026–2027 academic calendar to include designated Bad Weather Days. 

While designated bad weather days remain on the calendar, the district will primarily rely on banked instructional minutes to make up for any missed time due to weather or unexpected closures. With the approved 2026-2027 calendar, the district will have four banked days to make up for any cancellations that do occur as a result of inclement weather or unexpected circumstances.
