Manor ISD Accountability Update: Celebrating District and Campus Progress and Continuing The Road to Improvement

Manor ISD Community,
Today, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) released its latest accountability ratings for school districts and campuses across the state. As we look at our results, there are things to celebrate, areas where we need to improve and encouraging signs that the work happening across Manor ISD is making a difference.
As a district, Manor ISD improved by six points this year, bringing us closer to the next letter grade. That progress is encouraging, and we are seeing positive movement across several key academic areas.
Among the areas currently emphasized in the state accountability system, third-grade reading and math scores increased year over year, along with science scores across grades 3–8. Overall, math and reading performance in grades 3–8 also improved.
At the high school level, our College, Career and Military Readiness (CCMR) results increased as well, meaning more of our students are demonstrating readiness for their next step after graduation.
I am proud of that progress. These gains represent a lot of hard work by our students, teachers, campus leaders and staff. At the same time, I want to be clear that we still have work to do.
Literacy continues to be an area where we need to grow. We also want to build on the progress we are seeing in CCMR by putting an even greater focus on college readiness and making sure our high school students have the knowledge and skills to be a leader in whatever opportunity they pursue.
I also know there is a fair question to ask: If we are seeing progress, why aren't we seeing it happen more quickly?
The reality is that improving academic outcomes takes time, resources and focus. At the same time, our district is managing significant operational needs. When limited resources that could support instruction must also be used to maintain aging facilities, make necessary repairs and keep the basic operations of our schools running, it creates additional challenges. That is not an excuse, and it does not change our expectations for our students – it is simply part of the reality we are working through as a public school district.
We are already taking what we have learned from this year's results and putting it into action. That includes targeted interventions for students who need additional support, building upon changes to our curriculum and instruction made last year, strengthening literacy instruction and making strategic staffing decisions based on the needs of our campuses.
The numbers tell us we are making progress. They also tell us where we need more resources and support.
I am grateful to our teachers and staff who continue showing up for our students every day, and I am proud of our students for the growth they have made. We will celebrate those gains while continuing to push ourselves to do better.
Our goal remains simple: empower each student to excel every day.
