Manor ISD has named Kandice Smith as the new principal of Manor High School. A seasoned educator and administrator, Smith brings more than 10 years of experience in public education, including 9 years as a classroom educator and more than 4 years in school leadership.

Smith’s appointment is part of Manor ISD’s ongoing efforts to improve alignment and support across Manor High School, which includes Manor Senior High School (MSHS) and Manor Early College High School (MECHS), by transitioning into a single-principal model. The change is designed to enhance coordination, reduce scheduling conflicts, and establish consistent expectations for school discipline and campus safety.

“This unified leadership model is about providing better support to our students and staff,” said Superintendent Dr. Robert Sormani. “Kandice Smith is a proven leader with the experience, insight, and commitment needed to lead Manor High School during this exciting time of growth and change. Her ability to connect with students and staff, paired with her strong instructional leadership, makes her the right person to help us build a united and successful Mustang secondary experience.”

Smith currently serves as the principal of Del Valle High School, where she has led since 2022. In that role, she has overseen campus operations, academic programming, and student success initiatives, while also fostering a positive and inclusive school culture. Her leadership portfolio includes work as a middle school principal, associate principal of academics, and assistant principal - primarily at Del Valle ISD.

Throughout her career, Smith has built a reputation for developing systems that support student achievement, staff development, and school safety. She has also played a key role in leading summer school programs, coordinating master schedules, and supporting post-secondary readiness for high school students.

“I am truly honored to represent Mustang pride and to join a community of amazing students, dedicated staff, and supportive families who all contribute so much to the spirit and success of Manor High School,” Smith said. “Together, I believe we can build something special - a place where every student feels seen, supported, and where high expectations and strong relationships guide everything we do.”

Smith began her career in 2012 as a teaching assistant at Dailey Middle School in Del Valle ISD. She later served as a teacher, assistant principal, and summer school leader before moving into campus-wide academic leadership roles. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Huston-Tillotson University and a Master’s in Educational Administration from Texas State University. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University.
