Jay Huffty Named Manor ISD’s Police Lieutenant
Jay Huffty has been selected as the Manor ISD’s new Police Lieutenant. With an impressive career spanning almost 30 years in law enforcement and in educational administration, Huffty brings a unique and invaluable blend of skills to Manor ISD's safety and security team.
Huffty’s extensive background includes serving as a certified law enforcement officer, deputy sheriff, deputy constable, and police officer in various Texas counties where he gained a wealth of knowledge in criminal investigations, peacekeeping, and law enforcement operations.
His dedication to school safety began early in his career, where he transitioned into educational administration, holding leadership roles such as Director of Safety and Security and Assistant Principal in multiple Texas school districts.
Throughout his career, Huffty has been a leader in campus safety, district-wide emergency planning, and security system enhancements. In his most recent role as Director of Safety at Medina Valley ISD, he managed a $7.5 million security upgrades budget, coordinated emergency operations, and worked closely with local law enforcement to ensure a safe learning environment for students and staff.
"Jay Huffty’s wealth of experience in both law enforcement and education will strengthen our efforts to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for our students and staff,” Manor ISD Police Chief Clarence Yarbrough said. His ability to merge safety protocols with educational safety objectives, interact with staff members to help support them and his understanding of the classroom environments helps transcend gaps in communication.
In addition to his administrative roles, Huffty has served as a teacher, a special education behavior teacher, and as an assistant principal. As Police Lieutenant, Huffty will help lead the district’s safety initiatives, support the police chief, collaborate with district administrators to refine emergency response protocols, manage and coordinate emergency management procedures, and provide mentorship to Manor ISD’s School Resource Officers.
