Dr. Tamey Williams-Hill Named Manor ISD’s Deputy Superintendent

Manor ISD has named Dr. Tamey Williams-Hill as the district’s new Deputy Superintendent. In this expanded role, Dr. Williams-Hill, who has served as the Chief of Human Resources since 2022, will continue to lead the Human Resources Department while taking on broader responsibilities to support Superintendent Dr. Robert Sormani in overseeing the daily operations and strategic direction of the district.

Her new responsibilities include budget preparation, long-term planning,  coordinating different divisions, forecasting student enrollment, developing the district’s academic calendar, and serving as Acting Superintendent in Dr. Sormani’s absence.

“I am honored to serve as Deputy Superintendent and continue working alongside our incredible team to ensure the success of every student in Manor ISD,” said Dr. Williams-Hill. “This district holds a special place in my heart, and I look forward to building on the progress we’ve made to achieve even greater heights together.”

Dr. Williams-Hill brings over 20 years of experience in education, with a career spanning leadership roles in urban, suburban, and rural school districts. She has a track record of significant accomplishments, including:

  • Serving as Interim Superintendent for Manor ISD
  • Leading bond planning efforts that secured $253M, $284M, and a record-breaking $2.44B in school bonds.
  • Opening and staffing new schools while ensuring safety planning, community engagement, and innovative curriculum design.
  • Maintaining a 42% fund balance while overseeing district budgets and planning for future needs.

Since joining Manor ISD as Chief Human Capital Officer, Dr. Williams-Hill has been instrumental in driving progress. Her efforts led to a 5% enrollment increase for the 2023-2024 school year, enhanced crisis management protocols, and the implementation of competitive compensation packages, including a $17 minimum wage for district employees.

Dr. Williams-Hill also emphasized community engagement, increasing participation in the academic calendar development process by 365% and fostering partnerships to improve student financial literacy.

“Dr. Williams-Hill has been an immense leader in Manor ISD,” said Superintendent Dr. Robert Sormani. “Her dedication to fostering excellence and innovation has already made a profound impact on our district. I am confident her expanded role will continue to strengthen our mission to empower every student for success.”

Dr. Williams-Hill’s commitment to equity in education is evident in her leadership and community engagement. A respected expert in her field, she frequently speaks at local universities, covering critical topics such as human resources, teacher rights and responsibilities, and doctoral research methodologies.

Her insights have also been featured at education conferences across local, state, national, and international stages. Beyond her professional contributions, Dr. Williams-Hill serves on the Executive Board of the Texas Association of School Personnel Administrators (TASPA) and is a board member of a multibillion-dollar financial institution. Her dedication extends to community service, where she volunteers with organizations that award grants to teachers and scholarships to students, furthering opportunities for educators and learners alike.

Dr. Williams-Hill holds a Doctor of Philosophy in School Improvement from Texas State University, a Master of Education Administration, a Master of Social Work, and dual Bachelor’s degrees in English and Social Work from Southwest Texas State University.
