Manor ISD has announced the appointment of Brian Reed as the new principal of Decker Middle School. With more than a decade of experience in educational leadership and a background in military service, Reed brings a proven track record of campus management, instructional leadership, and team development to his new role.

Reed most recently served as Assistant Principal at O'Donnell Middle School in Houston, where he led daily operations for a campus of over 1,300 students and 120 staff. His work included designing the school’s safety plan, developing teacher training programs aligned to campus goals, and managing both scheduling and budgeting processes. In addition to his campus leadership, Reed has been active at the district level, serving on the District Improvement Council and contributing to broader operational planning.

Reed also brings a unique leadership perspective through his service in the Texas Army National Guard, where he currently serves as a Platoon Leader for the 172nd Engineer Battalion. His combined experience in education and military leadership has shaped a leadership style centered on precision, collaboration, and innovation.

“I am honored to join the Decker Middle School community,” said Reed. “I grew up in a small farming and ranching town in western Nebraska, where I learned the value of hard work, resilience, and strong community ties. These values have shaped my entire career in education. I look forward to building strong relationships with families, staff, and students as we work together to create a school where everyone feels valued, supported, and inspired to grow.”

Reed began his career as an English Language Arts teacher and ESL specialist in Alief ISD. He also taught in the Region 4 Alternative Certification Program, where he designed curriculum for new educators on topics ranging from adolescent reading to curriculum development.

He holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas in Houston and a Bachelor of Science in Education and Human Sciences from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, with an emphasis in English and Industrial Sciences.
