Erin Flores

Welcome to English II & English IV at Manor Excel Academy! My name is Erin Flores and I'm in my 13th year of teaching. I started with Manor ISD in the Fall of 2016 as the speech teacher at Manor High School. Since then, I've had the pleasure of teaching Education & Training courses to students in grades 9-12 and most recently returned to my English teacher roots at Manor Excel Academy. I am thrilled to be part of such a special campus!

My journey to becoming a teacher didn't start as soon as I entered college. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Concordia University at Austin. I spent several years working in the advertising/marketing/PR industry where I learned a great deal of firsthand knowledge into the business world that I am able to share with my students for their future sucesses. From there, I moved to a small island off the coast of Belize in Central America. I operated a small sailboat/kayak rental business for four years. Living and working internationally provided me great insight into the diversity of this world and how to best work with people from all walks of life. The island I lived on didn't have a high school and I quickly became a local go-to person for high school aged kids who wanted to expand their knowledge into the business and tourism industry. I assisted them with building resumes, continuing their education, navigating life's next steps, helping them improve their reading/writing skills, etc. After this awesome experience, I knew when it was my time to return to America that I would want to enter into the field of education.

Upon arriving back in Texas, I returned to Concordia University and received my Master's in Education degree with a focus in Curriculum & Instruction and I've never looked back. Working in education is my passion and I look forward to each new year with wonderful students ready to take on new experiences.

I was born in Austin, TX and raised in Elgin. I currently live in Elgin with my husband, our 9 year old daughter, two dogs named Rosie & Cookie, and our unusually sweet cat Katie. I love traveling, reading, Sunday lunches with family, visiting with friends, shopping, swimming, kayaking, and lounging with some good TV.
