Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Lisa E Koehl Newsom

Hello!  My name is Lisa Koehl Newsom and I have been teaching for the past 25 years.  My first year out of college, I spent 4 years teaching 2nd grade in Aransas Pass.  My first year there, I was nominated for the Sallie Mae First Year Teacher of the Year Award.  After spending time in Aransas Pass, I accepted a possition in Corpus Christi for the London ISD.   I spent 4 years as the Athletic Director and Boys/Girls all sports coach and k-8 PE coach.  After fullfilling my Athletic Director's position, and staying with the London ISD, I moved into the classroom setting where I spent 10 years in a 3rd grade self-contained classroom and aided in the rating of an exemplary campus for over a decade.  In 2013, my husband and I moved to McDade, Texas where I accepted a job teaching 3rd grade in a self-contained and departmentalized setting teaching Math and ELA.   In 2017, I joined Lagos Elementary Team where I have taught Math/Science/Social Studies.  I helped to set the norms for our newly opened campus and I am very proud to be a Lagos Spartan.  My plan is to continue working for the Manor ISD until I retire.

My first year educating for Manor ISD, I received the 2017-2018 Lagos Elementary Teacher of the Year Award and, the Manor ISD Elementary District Teacher Of The Year award!  I love my job and I love supporting our Manor students.

As I said, I am married to my wonderful husband John and we have a son who graduated from college this past spring.  I love all types of animals and being outside.  I have horses, dogs, chickens, and a cat.  I love to fish, work in my gardens, and pick berries and grapes and make jelly.  Being raised in Corpus Christi the majority of my life, I also LOVE the BEACH!
