I am so blessed that this is my seventeenth year in public school education for the 2021-2022 school year. This is my ninth year in Manor ISD. I am a proud Spartan, in my fifth year at Lagos Elementary as the Academic Interventionist, specializing in Literacy. I spent four years teaching 3rd grade at Manor Elementary School, where I served as the grade level chairperson, a member of the campus leadership team and the co-advisor for the Student Council. I am the advisor for our nationally and state recognized Lagos Elementary Student Council. This year I am focusing on our awesome Spartan Garden Club, for the fourth year and helping with our Peace Coalition. I am also hosting MakerSpace Club, through one of the two grants that I received from Manor SchoolHouse Foundation for the 2018-2019 and for 2019-2020 school year. I am hoping to implement Club Fridays, where students can join meaningful opportunities to serve their interests with students all across our campus. I am also in charge of co-facilitating our Response-to-Intervention (RtI) team for grade Kindergarten through fifth.
I am originally from Virginia where I taught at J.E.B. Stuart Elementary School (now Pleasants Lane Elementary) from 2005-2012. My husband's job at Samsung moved our family to the Austin area in 2012. We are the proud parents of two children. I hold a Bachelors (Virginia Tech University, 2001), Masters degree (Virginia State University, 2005) and a Specialist in Education degree (Arkansas State University, 2021). For the Spring of 2020, I completed the requirements for the first cohort of the Certificate in Early Education Leadership through Harvard University. I am also fully endorsed in both Gifted and Talented Education and English as a Second Language. I hold active teaching certificates for Early Childhood through sixth grade in both Virginia and Texas.
I have received many awards and recognition during my teaching career. Some of them include:
2021 Lagos Elementary Humanitarian of the Year
