Police Department

Manor ISD is proud to have its own fully commissioned police department. Our officers are trained in school-based law enforcement and are dedicated to building strong relationships with students and staff. The department works proactively to deter incidents and respond swiftly when needed.
The Manor ISD Police Department pledges to partner with our community (both on our campuses and at large) to maintain peace, to preserve life, to protect property, and to provide necessary services in a manner that builds trust by adhering to the highest level of professionalism and ethical standards.

K-9 Safety Support
Our district police department utilizes K-9 units trained to detect firearms and narcotics. These specialized dogs help us maintain drug-free, weapon-free campuses through regular and unannounced sweeps.

How We Communicate During Safety Events

We understand how important it is for you to receive updates as soon as possible. Please keep in mind that during emergency situations, our first priority is student and staff safety. Once it is safe to do so, we will send out information through official channels.
Keep Your Info Updated! To ensure you receive these messages, make sure your contact information is up to date in Skyward Family Access.
Understanding Emergency Terms
Manor ISD's Standard Response Protocol (SRP). It outlines what teachers and students should do in the event of a lockdown, lockout, evacuation, or shelter situation. Teachers and administrators receive SRP training at the beginning of the school year, and students receive information as part of their first-day packets. We encourage parents to go over the SRP with their student(s) to ensure they understand the document and instructions.

Hold Mode
“Hold in your room or area. Clear the halls.”
Why? A Hold is used when movement in the hallways needs to stop (e.g., a medical emergency or addressing a disciplinary). Learning continues in classrooms as normal and hallways are kept clear.

Secure Mode
“Get inside. Lock outside doors.”
Why? Initiated when there is a potential threat outside the building or more often than not when the local police are addressing a situation in the neighborhood. Exterior doors are locked. Instruction continues indoors as usual.

Lockdown
“Locks, lights, out of sight.”
Why? A Lockdown is used when there is a threat or potential threat inside or very close to the school. This is the most serious alert, and all staff and students follow strict procedures for safety.
📌Important: Families are urged not to come to campus during a lockdown. Updates will be sent through official district channels.

Evacuate
“Evacuate to a designated location.”
Why? Used when it is safer for students and staff to move to another location outside of the building (e.g., fire, gas leak). Routes and destinations are predetermined and practiced in regular drills.

Shelter
“Shelter for a hazard using safety strategy.”
Why? Activated for events like severe weather or hazardous material situations. Students and staff move to pre-assigned safe areas and follow specific safety procedures based on the type of threat.
