Dance
Elementary and Middle School Dance
Dance is offered at Decker Elementary Fine Arts Academy, Oak Meadows Elementary Fine Arts Academy and Decker Middle School Fine Arts Academy.
Scholars will learn fundamental skills of dance and movement and will be exposed to a variety of genres including jazz, ballet, modern, folk dance, and dances from different cultures.
High School Dance and Drill Team
At the high school level, students are able to take dance in lieu of traditional physical education classes.
Scholars have the opportunity at Manor High School/Manor Senior High School to try out for the award winning High Steppers drill team.
Theatre
Elementary & Middle School
Scholars are able to participate in full year theatre arts programs at Decker Elementary all MISD Middle Schools.
They will be introduced to:
- Acting Fundamentals
- Stage Movement
- Stage Make-Up
- Costume and Prop Design
- Writing
Each middle school campus will have one full-length production per school year. All middle school theatre programs participate in UIL One-Act Play.
High School Theatre
Scholars have the opportunity to be a part of the high school theatre program through acting and/or technical theatre.
MISD’s acting program includes learning monologues, scenes, plays and musical theatre. Each high school participates in UIL One-Act Play and performs two full-length productions annually. Technical theatre explores the behind the scenes aspect of theatre from costumes to set design and creation.
