Parent & Family Engagement

The goal for Manor ISD's Parent and Family Engagement program is to implement strategies to provide a collaborative partnership between schools and families to support student success.

What does the partnership between educators and families look like?

Educators and families will create partnerships between home and school that support student achievement and school improvement by coming together and building capacity in each side to work in a deeper partnership. Educators and schools will be using the Dual Capacity-Framework for Family -School Partnerships.

The two key dimensions of the framework:

  • Family capacity: knowledge, skills, and resources families need to support their children's learning.

  • School capacity: structures, practices, and relationships that support family engagement.

The Dual Capacity-Building Framework for Family-School Partnerships

The Dual Capacity-Building Framework for Family-School Partnerships (Version 2) is designed to support the development of family engagement strategies, policies, and programs. It is not a blueprint for engagement initiatives, which must be designed to fit the particular contexts in which they are carried out. Instead, the Framework should be seen as a compass, laying out the goals and conditions necessary to chart a path toward effective family engagement efforts that are linked to student achievement and school improvement.
