Michael Perkins is the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Manor Independent School District. Mr. Perkins has fourteen years of experience in education, including four years as a District administrator and five years as a Middle School Principal. As a teacher in Austin ISD, Michael Perkins was honored with the Teacher of Promise Award, Teacher of the Year Award, and African American Heritage Distinguished Teacher Award. As the Executive Director of School Improvement, Mr. Perkins led the improvement process with four schools that earned a rating of Improvement Required for failing to meet state standards to impressive gains. All 4 schools met the state standard and one school also earned a state distinction.
Michael Perkins is currently enrolled in the Ph. D. in School Improvement program at Texas State University. Mr. Perkins earned his Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Southwest Texas State University and his Masters of Education in Elementary Education with a specialization in curriculum and instruction from Texas State University. He served as a School Social Worker with Communities In Schools for four years before beginning his career in education.
