How to Apply
To qualify for meal benefits, a parent/guardian must complete a meal benefits application each school year regardless of meal status from previous school year. Only one (1) application is needed per household. Applications may be submitted at any time during the school year.
For faster processing, applying online is highly recommended. Online applications can be completed through Meal App Now. Step by step instructions will be provided on the meal app website.
Paper applications will be available at each campus and at the Food & Nutrition Services office. You can also print the application from our website. All paper applications should be completed and returned to the school or to the Food and Nutrition Services office. To avoid any delays, please make sure the application is fully completed.
Students are permitted to receive meal benefits based on last years meal status for only the first thirty (30) operating days of the new school year or until a new meal application has been processed. After the first thirty (30) days, if a new application has not been received and processed, the student will return to full-pay status.
Eligibility for free and reduced price meals is based on the household size and family income. Below is the income guidelines for 2018-2019 school year.
Under the provisions of the free and reduced price meal policy, the MISD Food and Nutrition Services personnel will review the applications and determine eligibility. Parents/guardians that are dissatisfied with the ruling of the official may wish to discuss the decision with the reviewing official on an informal basis.
