The Manor ISD Board of Trustees are excited to participate in the 2017-18 Lone Star Governance Training, hosted by the Texas Education Agency. The first workshop was held October 28-29 at Manor New tech Middle School, and focused on improving student outcomes. MISD Superintendent Dr. Royce Avery and his leadership team also took part in the training.
The workshop is in alignment with MISD's 5 year strategic plan for accountability and growth for the district. The LSG provides a continuous improvement model for governing teams that choose to intensively focus on one primary objective by creating vision, accountability, structure, unity, and advocacy. The LSG also establishes a system for governing legal and fiscal responsibilites.
"Student outcomes do not change unless adult behaviors change," said Dr. Avery. "MISD places a heavy emphasis on high quality training, from teachers, to support staff, to administrators and the Board. This training, like other professional development in the district, will enhance student outcomes throughout MISD."
"The LSG is a vital part of our vision for Manor ISD and our goal of increased accountability and transparency," said MISD Board of Trustees President Marlin Thomas. "We want to make MISD a Destination District, and it begins by having solid leadership with commitment from top to bottom. Positive well informed adult behavior will drive student outcomes."
The workshop was led by TEA Representative A.J. Crabill, and also included leaders from Luling ISD.
