As Manor continues to grow, so does the need for emergency services.
To assist the community, Manor ISD has created a unique partnership with the Travis County Emergency Services District #12 to build a new fire station and administrative district office, the first in Manor since 1986. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Friday, May 25th at the new location, which will be on an acre of land owned by Manor ISD. The new site will be at 11200 Gregg Lane, just off FM 973 and about 600 yards away from the new Manor Senior High School expected to open in August.
In addition to providing fire, medical, and rescue services, the new fire station will also expand MISD's Career & Technical Education courses. ESD #12 will provide training to MHS students interested in joining the fire academy after high school.
MISD Representatives at the groundbreaking included Superintendent Dr. Royce Avery, Board of Trustee members Monique Celedon, Janie Serna, and Ana Cortez, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Brian Yearwood, and Executive Director of Facilities and Construction Michael Brooks.
