Manor ISD would like to thank Board of Trustee members Monique Celedon and Janie Serna for their passionate support, vision, and leadership towards increasing parental involvement at MISD.
Manor ISD's District Level Parent Advisory Team welcomed several parents and school parent liaisons to update the community on various district initiatives.
Community members learned more about MISD's new contract with GEAR UP, a program that helps students with college information, financial aid, and scholarships. MISD's new contract will help a new cohort of 7th Grade students to help them get into college.
Members also got an update on Parent Teacher Associations across the district and were urged to join if interested. Currently, all but two MISD schools have a PTA, and the district's goal is to have one at each campus by the end of the 2017-18 school year. Parents also got an update on Relatrix, MISD's new volunteer database, and more information on how thorough the system's background checks are.
Meetings are held monthly by Family Engagement Coordinator Ramon Diaz, Assistant Superintendent for Academics & Accountability Dr. Brian Yearwood, and Executive Director of Federal Programs Marivel Sedillo.
