Manor High School Student Jayla Quichocho will be representing MHS at the State Powerlifting Competition next weekend.
Jayla participated in the Regional qualifier last weekend at Del Valle High School. Jayla squatted 340 lbs, bench pressed 160 lbs and deadlifted 335 lbs. She is the second female Manor powerlifter to qualify for state, which will be held Saturday, March 16, 2018, in Waco.
In addition to powerlifting, Jayla is an Early College High School student at MHS, Cheerleading Captain, member of the National Honor Society, and a member of the MHS track team representing the shot put and disk events.
Manor ISD would like to congratulate Jayla and her Coach Joel Velasco on their hard work, and wish them the best of luck in Waco!
Editor's Note: A previous version of this story stated that Jayla was the first female powerlifter from Manor to reach state. That has been corrected.
