February 7th is National Signing Day, where students across the country officially sign their letters of intent to play college sports.
Manor High School honored four senior football players who signed during a ceremony at the MHS Performing Arts Center. The student-athletes who signed are:
Prince Umanmielen- Tarleton State University
Anthony Hill- Wayland Baptist University
Jeremy Fowler- Sam Houston State University
Latremont McCutchin Jr.- Tarleton State University
Umanmielen played in 9 games this year at Defensive End and Middle Linebacker. recording 15 tackles and recovering a fumble.
Hill was a starter at Guard and Center, helping lead the Mustangs to 2,363 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns on the ground. Hill and the rest of the offensive line also helped block for 1,714 passing yards and 15 touchdowns through the air.
Fowler was a starting Middle Linebacker and Punter for 11 games. He totaled 81 total tackles and two sacks. Fowler also had six punts for 240 yards, an average of 40 yards a punt.
McCutchin Jr. was a starting wide receiver, racking up 600 yards on 26 receptions and scoring seven touchdowns. He also rushed for 20 yards, gained 172 kick return yards, and six punt return yards.
The celebration included family members, teammates, classmates, and words from Head Football Coach Jimmie Mitchell and Principal Jon Bailey. The ceremony also included cake and flowers.
In addition to Wednesday's signing, Manor Defensive End Ochaun Mathis signed his letter of intent to Texas Christian University last December during National Early Signing Day.
