Manor High School Softball player Hazel Faz made her college plans official on Tuesday.
The senior signed her letter of intent to play college softball for the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. Faz was introduced by MHS Principal Jon Bailey, and Softball Coach Glenda Washington, who spoke about Hazel's work ethic on and off the field. She was accompanied by her parents, teammates, and MHS students.
Faz, an outfielder for the Mustangs, said she knew the hard work would pay off with the help of the Manor community.
"I have a really supportive family," Faz said. "It is nice to have everyone here with me. The teachers would push you to do your best in every class. No matter how hard the work was, they were always on you about that. It was great to have teachers like that."
Faz said the welcoming feeling at Saint Mary's was the primary reason she chose to sign there.
"It felt like it was a very comfortable setting," Faz said. "Everybody was really friendly and accepting. It was nice being in an environment like that."
Faz and the Mustang Softball team will kick off the 2018 season February 12th at Navarro.
