Decker Middle School's Fine Arts Programs made history last week.
The DMS newly formed Dance Program participated in the Dance Educators Assessment of Learning (DEAL) competition. The students along with their dance teacher Mrs. Washington, went to Hendrickson High School along with several other school districts in the area to be assessed on their knowledge of many dance techniques, combinations, and execution of choreography learned on the spot from a choreographer.
The Raven dance program received a Division 1, the highest distinction available at the assessment event. The judges raved about how well behaved the students were and how well trained there were as well. This is Decker’s first year at offering a full-time dance program as part of their Fine Arts Academy and their first year going to the DEAL event.
The team will be recognized during the next MISD Board of Trustees meeting later this month. Congratulations from all of us at Manor ISD!
