Manor ISD partners are always working with the district to help put students on a lifelong path to success, and during the summer is no exception.
On July 21, Applied Materials hosted Breakthrough Central Texas for their event to help MISD students practice interviewing skills. At the event. both Applied Materials employees and other volunteers gathered at the tech company to interview students as if at a job or college interview. Then, the employees would give feedback and notes about how the students can better enhance those skills as they prepare for the college experience.
Before the interviews, Manor ISD Trustee Johnny Velasco told the crowd about the importance of community involvement.
Michael Griffith, executive director at Breakthrough Central Texas, told volunteers about the organization, which works with students from the sixth grade through high school graduation to get students into college. Many of these students are first generation college students as well.
Thank you to all the volunteers who came out on Friday!
