The Manor High Theatre students, the 290 Players, did an outstanding job at the UIL One-Act Play competition on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Akins High School. The students won several awards, holding their own in their first appearance competing in District 14-6A division against many power house schools in Austin AISD, such as, Anderson High School and Bowie High School.
Britney Mendoza won the Honor Crew award for her work as the show’s stage manager. Britney Mendoza, Scott McIntosh, Kaytelyn Paine, Brayam Vargas, Victoria Lopez, Amber Baker and Paige Simpson won the Outstanding Tech Award as the show’s crew. Celine Munyana won the Honorable Mention All-Star Cast Award and Falasade Fashina won the All-Star Cast Award. Finally, Avery Campos, Ediley Galvan, Folasade Fashina, James Barak, Hugo Farelas, Mariana Mendoza, Jaritza DeLeon, Xavier Gomez, Celine Munyana, and Nathaniel Kennedy won the Alternate One-Act Play Award.
Directors, McArthur Moore and Brittany Turner are extremely proud of the level of professionalism and good show that these students have shown from the beginning of the year up until now. They represented Manor very well and cannot wait until next year.
Don’t forget! You can catch “The Library” at Manor High School on Wednesday, March 8th and Friday, March 10th at 7:00pm. The doors open at 6:30pm. The tickets are $5.00. Also, we will also have student-directed shows in late April-early May that we encourage you to come out and see.
