My name is Ruth Johnson. I was born August 10, 1964 in New Orleans. I am the youngest of seven children. I grew up in Houston until I moved to the Austin area in early 1990s.

I graduated from Stephen F Austin university in 1990 with a Bachelor’s degree in social work. I met my husband in 1994 and married in 1997. We have two children, our daughter Audrey and our son Cinque. I spent many years working in the food service industry and retail, until now, where I felt the call to become a teacher.
