My name is Ms. Hernández. I am from a small border town by the name of Eagle Pass, here in Texas. I attended Texas State University in San Marcos, Tx. I was the first in my family to attend a university and received my Bachelor of Fine Arts along with a k-12 Art teaching certification. Recently, I have also been certified in Bilingual Education. This will be my 5th year in public education and 4th year at Decker Elementary School! I have a small, black, hairy 3-year-old dog named Doug. I love creating art and growing with the people around me. My "why" in a nutshell would be; I teach our students to embrace curiosity, a sense of community, and become problem solvers through the world of art. Further than that, I try to teach our students how to apply these characteristics outside the art room.
