Tonya Williams

I am a southerner at heart and am originally from Baton Rouge, LA.

I  earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Southern University A&M College - Baton Rouge, my teaching certification from Metropolitan State University - Denver, and my masters degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Austin.

My teacher career began in Denver, Colorado teaching high school as a Special Education Teacher and a Humanities Teacher.  Upon leaving Denver and moving to Austin, TX where I worked as a Special Education Teacher at the middle school level with Austin ISD.  While teaching middle school, I was nominated for the principalship program and served as an instructional coach for one year.  I have been an assistant principal with Austin ISD for three years and was most recently asked to serve as a coaching consultant training aspiring assistant principals through the University of Texas at Austin Principalship Program. Additionally, I am a proud member of the Central Austin Area Black School Educators Organization (CAASBE).

My motto  is not to be impressive but impactful. I am passionate about ensuring all scholars receive an equitable and excellent education.  There is an indescribable joy that I feel when I am helping scholars shine and achieve their best.

My biggest cheerleaders are my husband and two children.  In my spare time, I enjoy jogging, listening to podcasts, going to the movies, catching up with family and friends, and traveling to LA to eat gumbo and po-boys.
