Degrees and Certifications:
BS in Chemistry M.Ed in Instructional Technology
I was raised in a small town similar to Manor, by my single mother. Ever since I can remember she always stressed that the world had more to offer than my hometown. Because my mom worked two and sometimes three jobs to make ends meet, I began caring for my little sister and taking care of household chores at the young age of nine. She raised me to be respectful, responsible and hard working. She also stressed education was the key to success. As soon as I graduated high school she moved us across the country for more opportunity. She will forever be a Superhero to me. I immediately began college, although I was not college ready. It took many years of hard work before I had another opportunity to seek higher learning. I started this journey by completing barber school and then using my barber’s license to support myself as I completed my Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry, where I met my wife. I started tutoring science at a local charter high school for a second job. I immediately fell in love with supporting scholars, who reminded me of my young self. My passion for educating young minds led to a science teaching position. While teaching and working a second job, I completed a Masters degree in Educational Technology. Upon receiving my M.Ed. I was offered a position in administration. This will be my 13th year in education and my 6th year at MISD.
