Ryan Johnston

Welcome to PCE Physical Education.  My name is Ryan Johnston, but many of my students refer to me as Mr. J., Coach J., or Coach.  I started my teaching career with Austin ISD, before coming to Manor ISD when Pioneer Crossing opened in 2009. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I have been given to work with your children and the wonderful group of people here at Pioneer Crossing.

I grew up in Austin and have always enjoyed being physically active whether it's playing a sport, working out, swimming, or really anything moving. I decided to move west for college, where I attended and graduated from Texas Tech University. WRECK'EM TECH!!! As much as I enjoyed my time in Lubbock, Austin has always been home.

I have been happily married for almost 15 years. My wife and I have a 10 year old daughter who brings us great joy. When I am not doing the coolest job in the world, my hobbies and interests include, but are not limited to: staying physically active, reading good books, listening to podcasts, working on my house and yard, watching sports, spending time with family and friends, and eating good food.

I believe Physical Education is a very important foundation in a child's life and can lead to great confidence and enjoyment regardless if a student wants to be an athlete or not.  I also believe our health should be a top priority in life and we stress the importance of living a healthy life in P.E. class. I believe Physical and health education is the most important subjects in school because without our health all things in life become very challenging. We teach skill and health units to all grade levels because they are both very important.

Please feel free to call or email me anytime with any questions or concerns.

Thank you!

Coach Johnston

I also coach an after school club called Future Athletes of America every Wednesday from 3-4 for 5th grade students only who are interested in playing middle school athletics.  We work hard and play hard!  Many of our former students have gone on to play high school athletics here in Manor ISD and elsewhere and college athletics as well.  Regardless of athletic ability, it's a family and our kids build good habits at a young age to progress at the next level.
