New Substitute employees will receive benefit information during their new hire processes. Substitutes are only offered medical insurance coverage. ManorISD does not contribute toward the cost of medical insurance premiums for temporary, substitute or seasonal employees. The Substitute is responsible for making payment arrangements with the Payroll & Benefits office to pay the full monthly premium by the 25th of each month. Substitutes are also responsible for enrolling or waiving medical benefits within 30 days of their start date (not hire date). Failure to do so could leave the employee and their dependent/s without insurance coverage for the current benefit plan year (September 1, 2022- August 31, 2023).
Substitutes who did not previously enroll in medical insurance can enroll during Medical Only Open Enrollment for the 2022-2023 plan year, which is taking place between July 11, 2022 - August 18, 2022. Medical only insurance will be effective September 1, 2022 - August 31, 2023. TRS closes the enrollment on August 18, 2022 and changes cannot be made thereafter.
Once medical coverage is elected, the Substitute is committed to that election for the full benefit year. Changes to the medical coverage can only be made during the next medical open enrollment or when a Qualifying Life Event (QLE) occurs.
