Library Use Policies - Student Entry
Student Admission to the Library
Students are welcome to use the library when it is open, but different passes are needed at different times of the day. In addition to pass restrictions, behavioral standards will be enforced consistent with librarian rules and school policy.
Before school
Students may enter the library before school for open library use. At this time, no passes are needed to enter the library. Phones use and game use are permitted.
During class time
Students may come to the library with a pass from a classroom teacher and a clear assignment. Tutorial services, test support services, research support services, and information literacy services may be requested by the teacher and will be supplied if possible. Classroom teachers must supply all information indicated on the library pass, or the student will be returned to class. Subs are not allowed to send students to the library. An AP may issue a pass to a student who has a sub if the AP deems it appropriate. Phone use and game use are not permitted.
During lunches
Students may come to the library after they have finished eating if they have a pass from the librarian or an AP. Current school policy is that a maximum of 30 temporary passes may be issued for each lunch on any given day. A small number of students hold permanent lunch passes or library aid passes and may be allowed to come to the library using these passes. Phone use and game use are permitted.
After school
Students may come to the library to participate in library-based activities (for example: Clubs, Breakthrough, Tutoring) after school. However, bus passes will only be issued to students who have been participating in library-based activities for the entire duration of after hours. Phone use and game use are permitted. -
