What is SHAC?
The School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is an advisory group comprised of individuals who represent segments of the community. The group acts collectively to provide advice to the Manor ISD on aspects of the school district's health and wellness program.
Research shows that healthy children do better in school - from attendance and behavior to academics and overall performance.
What does the SHAC do?
The SHAC addresses all the following components of a comprehensive school health program and includes representatives from each area.
- Health Services
- Health Education
- Nutrition Services
- Physical Education
- Health Promotion for Staff
- Healthy School Environment
- Family/Community Involvement
- Counseling, Psychological & Social Services
The goal of the Manor ISD SHAC is to advise and to make recommendations to Manor ISD decision-makers regarding students, staff and community needs and assets related to health knowledge and skills, policies and procedures that impact student health, and the health of the school environment.
The SHAC meetings will be held quarterly at the Manor ISD Central Administration Building from 6:00 to 7:15 pm.
