Project Mentor is a school-based mentoring program funded through a U.S. Department of Education grant, designed to assist students (grades 4 through 8) in receiving support and guidance from a mentor.

Mentors provide friendship, encouragement, and academic support. A mentor helps a child develop his or her strengths and talents by supporting the efforts of other significant adults such as parents and teachers.

Research has shown that youth who receive support and guidance from a caring adult will show measurable improvement in academic achievement, higher levels of school attendance, and a reduction in discipline referrals. Mentored youth are more likely to stay in school and graduate and develop positive interpersonal relationships.

You can impact a child's life in a positive way by giving at least one hour of your time every week.
