My Hero Web Pages

Created by: 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade
MINDSPILL Students

Students viewed the My Hero website and discussed what made someone a hero. They then made a list of common character traits of heroes. They found that heroes were selfless, caring, and compassionate. They realized that heroes did things for others without expecting anything in return. Heroes were also willing to sacrifice their wants and needs and even their own lives for other people. Heroes showed perserverance and never gave up.

After learning about the character traits of heroes, students found that these were very similar to the 6 Pillars of Character that our students try to live by. These are: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, Citizenship.

These students then created a webpage dedicated to their own personal hero. Their webpages were submitted to the My Hero website and a simplified copy of their pages can viewed at www.myhero.com.
